Composite, or “tooth colored” fillings, is a great treatment option for those who do not want their dental work to be visible like that of amalgams, or “silver” fillings. This material can be closely color-matched to also be used in cosmetic bonding cases of chipped, discolored or uneven teeth. These fillings are bonded to, or inside of, the tooth with adhesive and cured to a hardened state with a special light. The patient is able to eat immediately after the procedure unlike amalgams where ideally, a full 24 hours is needed before chewing on the treated tooth.
